Welcome from the Chairman of the Trustees

“Hello and welcome to the Andrews Charitable Trust website. We thank you for taking the time to find out more about us and our work.  With our unique heritage, the ACT Trustees want to make social change happen by working with individuals and organisations to deliver services which are innovative, replicable and sustainable, alleviate poverty and/or promote the Christian faith.

The work of ACT is made possible by the endeavours of the staff team of more than 500 Andrews & Partners staff which generates the profits that we are thereafter able to distribute to support social entrepreneurs. We want to recognise and thank them for their input.

God Bless.”

Message from the Director

“Welcome to our site. We have chosen to put all information about ACT on this website and do not have additional policies, criteria or materials. The website also specifies what we don’t do. Before working on any formal application to us, it is always best to read this site and then to contact me first. I would not want you to put time and effort into preparing a proposal, if I did not think you had a chance of it being seriously considered by the Trustees.

From August 2009 to March 2012, our main investment has been an innovative programme, based in Bristol, to investigate how better family and parenting support can help to tackle homelessness repeating itself across the generations. Through this, we have supported five small voluntary initiatives through charities based in the city, to pull together a range of approaches to work with homeless families. As a result of our funding, the five organisations have now established a consortium through which they aim to continue to support parents who have experienced homelessness to give better life chances to their children. ACT is also supporting a process of evaluation and learning through the programme with the aim of sharing the learning more widely within the sector.

With the re-launch of this website, however, we are also re-launching our funding programme to look for new investments in line with our traditional grant-making interests of supporting innovative ideas and in growing new organisations. We are interested to hear from inspirational individuals who believe that they are addressing other significant problems in ways that have the potential to be innovative, replicable and sustainable.

Examples of work that we have funded in the past are available on this site, along with some news about the current work that we are supporting. Please take time to read what’s on this site and then, if you have any queries, call me directly or send a brief e-mail and I will get back to you.

As we seek to maximise the impact of our funds, we take on only a handful of new ventures each year. but new proposals are considered throughout the year, at each of our quarterly trustees’ meetings.

Best Wishes”
